Getting Started: Bloggers
Welcome music blogger!
How can I get my blog added / removed?
If you have an mp3 blog that you would like added, fill out our form here. If you would like to be removed or have some sort of edit, please email us at info@elbo.ws
Once you submit your blog, it will be added to a queue. We will crawl from the time it’s submitted, but the posts will not appear until it is approved. The fastest way to get approval is to participate in our forums or make friends with other music bloggers on Twitter or in real life. Music blogging is a community and it’s much more fun when everyone participates in the conversation.
Why don’t the mp3s link to the actual files?
We don’t condone piracy. The act of pulling out and identifying the music files is simply a way to categorize the posts if tagged correctly. Please visit the blog and read the post.
How can I link to Elbo.ws from my blog?

Why don’t my mp3s show up?
Elbows parses your pages for links that end in ‘mp3′. If you host your songs on a server that doesn’t link directly to the mp3 file, we won’t be able to pick it up.
My mp3s show up, but the artist and title info is not right – what gives?
In order for your track info to be catalogged correctly, be sure that your mp3 has valid id3 v1.1 or v2 tags. If you need to edit your id3 tags, we recommend Tag & Rename.
How can I get one of those fancy-type icons next to my blog’s name?
These are your run-of-the-mill favicons. See favicon.com for more information or to make your own. If you’ve recently updated yours, it should show up within 24 hours. Each blog should be pulled once time each hour. We started breaking it up so that it pulls a bunch every 15 mins.
If I edit my post once it’s already on Elbows, will my changes show up?
No. We only crawl once for performance issues. If you fix spelling or add a new song or video, Elbows will not reflect the changes.
How often do you guys update?
Each blog should be pulled at least one time each hour. If you don’t blog for a long period of time (over 7 days), we crawl you much less often – only once or twice per day. If you want to jump start the crawling again, see the section on “pinging” below:
How can I notify elbo.ws to crawl once I’ve updated my site?
Add http://elbo.ws/ping/ to your ‘Update Services’ area:
Movable Type – Log in to your account and go to the ‘Configuration’ section and click on ‘Preferences’. Scroll down to the area where you can find: ‘Publicity / Remote Interfaces / TrackBack’. Add http://elbo.ws/ping/ to other notification services.
WordPress – Log in to your account and go to the ‘Settings’ section. Click on the ‘Writing’ tab. Scroll down to ‘Update Services’ and add http://elbo.ws/ping/ to the box.
Blogger and others – We’re in the process of adding a manual ping service at the same url. If you know of another way to do this in another blog or have questions, please discuss in the elbo.ws forum: here.
